NBA Betting Accounted For 40% Of Trading At Kalshi Last Week
The NBA was by far the most popular set of markets to trade at Kalshi last week, accounting for more than 40% of all volume, according to data from the prediction market platform.
The five NBA markets all appeared in the top 20 in trading volume for the week ending Sunday, May 4:
KXNBASeries: Winners of playoff series
KXNBAGame: Winners of single games
KXNBA: Winner of the NBA title
KXNBAWest: Winner of the Western Conference
KXNBAEast: Winner of the Eastern Conference
Here is a look at the top 20 markets last week:
Some other notes:
The NBA Series markets dominated activity because there were no Game 7 markets for the series that went to seven games. A series market and a game market would have been identical in terms of what users were trading on at that point.
More than half of all contracts came on sports events.
Interest in whether the Federal Reserve would cut or hike rates was the second-most traded market.
NHL series and MLB single-game markets appeared in the top ten.
Two markets about the Canadian elections were in the top 10.
