Here’s a look at the top 20 markets by trading volume at Kalshi from June 2-8:
Some notes about the data:
The French Open closing with a pair of exciting matches — including a five-set affair between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner — helped make tennis markets a big winner for Kalshi.
If you take away sports and the top three financial markets, all other markets at Kalshi accounted for less than 10% of trading volume.
The top seven markets were all sports, and only seven of the top 20 markets were non-sports markets.
Betting on NBA finals games was the biggest single market, at more than 20% of volume.
Betting on Major League Baseball games was the most popular it has been since Kalshi launched those markets.
Markets not usually appearing in the top 20 included the high temperature in Chicago and the Rotten Tomatoes score for John Wick: Ballerina.
Until football season arrives and after the NBA and NHL finals conclude, it looks like Kalshi will depend on baseball and major golf and tennis tournaments to generate trading volume and revenue.
