Kalshi Volume Report: Sports Is 50% Of Trading As Activity Dips
Kalshi became less dependent on sports with the NBA season over, but its volume was down significantly as well.
Sports accounted for more than 50% of trading at Kalshi this past week. Here are the top 20 markets at Kalshi this week (June 22-29) and last week:
Some notes on the data:
Five of the top ten markets were sports, and nine of the top 20.
The biggest sports markets were single-game Major League Baseball betting and betting on UFC 317 matches.
The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest on the Fourth of July accounted for almost 4% of all volume.
Other sports in the top 20 included match betting for the FIFA Club World Cup, men’s and women’s pro tennis matches, and WNBA single-game betting.
The top 20 markets this week accounted for less volume than the NBA alone did the previous week.
The top 20 markets accounted for 83% of all volume.
The biggest non-sports market was the winner of the Democratic primary for mayor in New York City (KXMAYORNYCNOMD).
Wimbledon, a tennis major taking place this week and next, will likely be a big driver of volume.
