Kalshi Volume Report: Preseason NFL Betting Already A Top-10 Market

Betting on NFL games is a top-10 market for the prediction market Kalshi, despite the fact we’re still in the preseason.

Betting on the PGA Tour was the biggest market of the past week at Kalshi; here’s a look at the top 20 markets from Aug. 4-10:

• Sports markets accounted for more than two-thirds of all volume.

• The top 20 markets represented roughly 85% of all trading on Kalshi.

• Six of the top ten markets involved sports, and seven of the top 20.

• The first event of the FedExCup Playoffs on the PGA Tour, the St. Jude Championship, represented just under a third of all trading at Kalshi.

  • Betting on men’s and women’s tennis matches accounted for about 14% of all volume, while single-game baseball betting was 13%.

  • Kalshi started its foray into sports by letting users bet on the NFL postseason and the Super Bowl earlier this year. Last week, Kalshi already saw $5 million in trading volume just on preseason games. By comparison, the Super Bowl generated $27 million in volume.

  • WNBA betting was also a top-10 market last week.

• Cryptocurrency price markets (KXBTCD, KXBTC, KXBTCMAX150, KXBTCMAXY, KXETH, KXETHMAXY) accounted for about 13% of volume.
